As most of you may know, I perform with the Lakeview Orchestra in the viola section.  I have played viola for 35 years and it remains a major hobby, providing critical balance, growth, and emotional expression that is unique to this activity. Over 10 years ago I discovered this group, which has been my major musical home.  As a member, I volunteer my time and talent to rehearse and perform five concerts each year. Being able to perform has provided me with an artistic community and outlet that is an important part of my life.

Lakeview Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization celebrating 10 years of artistic excellence. Over the next month, the orchestra has a goal to raise at least $10,000 as part of our Spring Challenge [link to your fundraising page], which will allow us to celebrate the last 10 years and prepare for the next 10. The entire orchestra is pitching in, including me. I have a personal goal to raise $800. Every dollar raised will go directly to helping us achieve our 2023 priorities that include:

  • Upgrading our rehearsal space and continuing our residency at the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture by offsetting our increased performance and rehearsal space rental fees.

  • Welcoming guest musicians and conductors by showcasing Chicago’s rich talent and elevating performances.

  • Partnering with other arts organizations by collaborating with others to offer rich and dynamic programming to a growing audience like Violins of Hope.

Donations to the orchestra are 100% tax-deductible and will directly fund these programs for Lakeview Orchestra. Would you consider donating any amount (anything helps!) to help me reach my goal?  If you don't have the means, let me flip the offer: let me know if you ever need tickets to our concerts and I will purchase some for you.

Thank you in advance for considering this request!

Sincerely

Brandon Barton
